REEL 13 is a film showcase for classic, short, and independent films seen weekly on Thirteen/WNET New York. In addition to regular offerings of classic and independent films, amateur, professional and aspiring filmmakers have the opportunity to submit their work for possible broadcast on air.
Filmmakers can visit REEL 13’s website – Reel13.org – to submit their films and take part in this interactive online film competition. Selected short film clips will be posted to REEL 13’s website allowing visitors to the website to vote on their favorite. The film with the most votes each week will be broadcast on New York’s most watched PBS station, Channel 13 on Saturday night, and the filmmaker will receive a 0 award.
During each week’s Saturday-night broadcast, knowledgeable hosts – taped at locations around town – will add to the experience, giving viewers insight into the films and celebrating New York’s unique place in the world of cinema.
REEL 13’s site will also give cinema fans a comprehensive forum for screening, blogging, critiquing, exchanging ideas, and learning about film.
For more information on submitting a short film to the competition, go to Reel13.org.
